Agriculture

Agriculture played a key role in human civilization. Most citizen in the rural area support themselves through agriculture which means that there means of living are farming, fishing and hunting. They produce there food and goods through it. In some cases especially in the first world countries they extend between sustainable agriculture. Sustainable agriculture refers to the ability of a farm to produce food indefinitely, without causing severe or irreversible damage to ecosystem health. Sustainability rests on the principle that we must meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Rice, pineapples, and garlic are excellent examples of agricultural crops. Agricultural sector are mostly made up of sectors such as farming, fisheries, livestock and forestry. One of the most pressing concerns of the agricultural sector is the rampant conversion of agricultural land into golf courses, residential subdivisions, and industrial parks or resorts. Small land-holders find it more profitable to sell their land to developers in exchange for cash, especially since they lack capital for seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and wages for hiring workers to plant and harvest the crops.

Agriculture evolves and the evolution helps us to produce more foods and goods through the help of technology innovation. The planting, harvesting and even marketing will be easier thus more goods/foods will be produced thus more people will benefit to it. Technological innovation will also help in lowering the production cost. From this rapidly aging farm population improved technology has been key to the growth of commercial farms and biologically based innovations hold the promise of new products and new applications.

Food and fiber productivity soared due to new technologies, mechanization, increased chemical use, specialization and government policies that favored maximizing production. Although these changes have had many positive effects and reduced many risks in farming, there have also been significant costs. Prominent among these are topsoil depletion, groundwater contamination, the decline of family farms, continued neglect of the living and working conditions for farm laborers, increasing costs of production, and the disintegration of economic and social conditions in rural communities.
